About

On the same rope as you.

We get paid when you get paid. We don't pull against our clients, and we don't pull against their patients. That's the whole arrangement, and it's why we chose the name.

The name

How do you define Mantl?

Man·tle / Man·tel
\ ˈman(t)əl \ | \ ˈman(t)l \ | noun, verb
  1. A responsibility that passes from one group to another. Your team hands us the accounts it has finished with. We carry them from there.
  2. A layer that covers and protects what is beneath it. A safety net under your revenue cycle, and a buffer between your patients and a hard conversation.
  3. A beam that supports the structure above. Also mantel. We hold up part of your bottom line without changing anything built on top.
  4. Climbing. The move that gets you over a ledge when there are no holds left above you. The last hard stretch of the route, which is where we work.
Why we started

Providers had three kinds of vendor to choose from. None of them were enough.

We spent about a decade building revenue recovery programs for other companies. In that time we worked with hundreds of hospitals and physician groups, and we kept seeing the same three options offered to them.

Consulting firms would find the problem, write it up, and leave. Software companies would sell a platform and a login. Revenue cycle companies would do the actual work, but they chased the largest health systems, and a small practice's phone calls went to the bottom of the pile.

We started Mantl Health in 2024 to be the company we wanted to hand our own clients to: one that does the work, builds its own tools around each client, and stays on the call. For a five-doctor practice and for a health system alike.

We're not a mom-and-pop shop. We're not too big to care.

What we believe

Four things we won't trade away.

A bill is part of the care.

It is the last thing a patient hears from their provider. It should be as clear and as respectful as the first.

Patients want to pay.

They also want to understand, and to be understood. Most unpaid bills are unexplained bills.

If we can't show you, we shouldn't claim it.

Every statement on this site is something we can put on a screen in a demo.

Every client gets the same attention.

A named lead, a monthly review, and a returned phone call, whatever your size.

The founders

Who started Mantl Health.

Seve Michelotti

Seve Michelotti

Founder and CEO

Seve is the person you'll meet first and keep meeting. He runs client relationships at Mantl Health and sits in on the monthly reviews himself, which is how he likes it: he spent the decade before this building a healthcare consulting startup from $1M to $55M in revenue and from 10 clients to more than 1,000 hospitals and physician groups, and the clients who stayed were the ones who got a straight answer and a returned call.

He has written revenue cycle policies, workflows, and training manuals alongside hospital executives, and he has seen what a new regulation, a payer's reimbursement change, or a hurricane does to a billing office long after the news has moved on. Seve studied neuroscience at Boston University, which comes up more than you'd expect in conversations about why patients do and don't pay, and in medical necessity appeals, where the argument is made in the language of the chart.

Thomas Barry

Thomas Barry

Founder and CTO

Thomas built the software our team and clients use every day. He is the rare engineer who would rather walk you through your own numbers than send you a dashboard; he thinks that's where data is properly understood and systems get designed right. Whether a client poses an interesting question or wants to plan the next quarter, Thomas turns up by the next review with a well-framed answer and oftentimes a chart he drew to explain it.

Before Mantl Health, he led software at a healthcare consulting startup, where his data integration platform carried the onboarding of more than 500 hospitals and physician groups, and he later built the models that told revenue cycle teams which claims had been underpaid or overpaid, and which denials were worth chasing. He has run safety-net programs managing billions of dollars in receivables, from single-provider practices to some of the largest health systems in the country.

Careers

Work with us.

We hire people who know revenue cycle and who are as good on the phone with a payer's appeals desk as with a busy CFO. Open roles are listed on LinkedIn. If you don't see the right one, write to careers@mantlhealth.com.
